What should one do to ensure a carefree childhood for one's kids?

Love them, talk to them, prepare them for the world they live in...you can never protect them from everything. If they never experience some of the lows of life they will never know the highs either.All kids experience some angst about friends at school etc, you job is to teach them how to deal with these things and to grow and learn from them.
