AHHHH!!! can you help me with my carols!!!?

Me and 2 other friends are going to go carol singing this christmas, what would be the oppropriate time to go, my mum said we shouldnt go to much before christmas which is true, wat would be a good date? we are raising money for redwing horse sanctuary which will be really fun. Aso, should we sing then ringthe doorbell or should we rng the doorbell then sing, thankyou
