Is being stylish taboo in American society?

I would have to disagree, i don't think having a different style is necessarily "looked down upon". I think America is actually quite accepting of different styles, but not in the same way as Europe. Trends are a big deal, and new ones get started all the time. and being labeled with a certain style isn't really a negative thing.
