Spiritually wondering about...?

Do you see a similarity between the life of Michael Jackson and the rich young man spoken of in Mathew 19:16-24 ? After the man in Mathew asked Jesus what he must do to inherit eternal life, Jesus told him to sell all of his stuff, give to the poor and follow Him. The man went away sorrowful because he had many possessions he did not want to give up. Seems like to me that both trusted in something they could "do" to inherit eternal life, both had an abundance of material "stuff" that they did not want to part with, both were prominent men in the public eye, both were lonely most likely, and neither had any hope. It just goes to show that you can have all the stuff in the world, a lot of money, popularity, fame, the respect of your peers, and still have no hope apart from Jesus. What are your respectful thoughts on this?
