Why is popular music popular? seriously?

Uh.... "punk" music pisses me off. like good charlotte and simple plan or whatever. my ears seriously bleed when i hear this, and my head wants to explode thinking that people accutally believe that this is punk music. and soldja or soulja so soleja whatever that is.. why do people like this as rap music? or anything other new rappers i cant think of any because i choose to repress their exsistance... please help me on this. p.s. no offence if u like it. i wont hate on people's personal preferance.
